Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, RV camping has seen a massive surge in popularity with RV rental company, RVshare, revealing almost 80 percent of their camper renters in 2020 were new clients.
According to a survey carried out by STR Travel Planning & Habits, “RV rentals will continue to be the new found option of 2021 for long distance travel, staying at state and national parks, and adventurous family trips,” RVshare reports.
With 57 percent of those surveyed revealing they find RV travel more appealing than before the pandemic, which camping destinations are RV vacationers heading to?
According to USA Today, RVshare compiled a list of the eight most searched destinations for camping enthusiasts right now:
1. Orlando, Florida
Not surprisingly Orlando, Florida topped the list of most seearched for camping destinations thanks to its fabulous winter weather temperatures and access to a variety of theme parks. USA Today reports Disney’s Fort Wilderness is one of TripAdvisors top-rated options.
2. Tampa, Florida
Another Florida destination came in at number two on the list with Tampa appealing to campers looking for a low-key, beachy vibe.
3. Miami, Florida
Sun-filled Miami, Florida rounded out the top three most searched for camping destinations according to RVshare and offers plenty of campsite choices. USA Today reports The Larry and Penny Thompson Park and Campground is one of the largest and offers 240 campsites complete with electric and water hookup.

5. Phoenix, Arizona
Yet another sun-filled destination on the list, Phoenix, Arizona is the fifth-most popular destination for RV campers and is a great location for tourists looking to hike and bike thanks to its proximity to national forests and parks.

According to RVshare, Houston came in at number six and offers campers easy access to Galveston State Park and the chance to reconnect with nature.
7. Fort Worth, Texas
Home to the amazing Six Flags theme park, Fort Worth came in at number 7 on RVshare’s list with USA Today reporting Bee Mountain Ranch Camp is a great destination for campers with children thanks to its sandy beaches on the Brazos River and 350 acres.
8. San Diego, California
San Diego, California rounded out the top eight most searched for camping destinations on RVshare’s list, and with warm weather and gorgeous beachfront campsites we can see why.
