Nassau’s cruise port continues to break visitor records as more and more people choose to vacation on cruise ships.
According to CruiseHive, a record number of cruise passengers visited the Nassau Cruise Port in The Bahamas during the first half of 2023.
The number even surpassed pre-pandemic records set in 2019 and shows the “strong growth of cruising and the influence of the influence of the newly renovated port facilities.”
Nassau has welcomed more than 2.2 million cruise passengers so far through June 30.
According to CruiseHive, at this rate, Nassau may set a record for the year by welcoming four million cruise passengers – much higher than the 3.2 million passengers it received in 2022 and the 2019 record of 3.9 million.
“We anticipate our traffic numbers for 2023 to exceed pre-pandemic levels with about 4.2 million visitors,” Mike Maura, Jr., the port’s chief executive, said in a statement reported by CruiseHive.
“In 2019, which was the busiest year for us to date, we had 3.85 million visitors,” Maura continued. “For 2024, we already have 4.5 million confirmations.”
