Canada has topped the list as the safest country in the world for travelers, according to a report from travel insurance provider Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection.
The company released its ninth annual State of Travel insurance report, which ranks the safest countries in the world for travelers by evaluating safety concerns such as health measures, weather emergencies, and terrorism, among others.
According to
USA Today, Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection surveyed 1,702 people on their travel experiences in different countries to help compile its list.
“The definition of safe destination has evolved,” Carol Mueller, vice president at Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection, told
USA Today. “In our most recent survey, travelers lean in on countries they believe as safe destinations they can move about freely without discrimination or harassment.”
According to the report, these are the 15 safest countries in the world:

3. Norway
4. Ireland
5. Netherlands
6. United Kingdom
7. Portugal
8. Denmark
9. Iceland
10. Australia
11. New Zealand
12. Japan
13. France
14. Spain
15. Brazil
