Norwegian Cruise Line is relaxing its face mask rule beginning in March and updating its COVID-19 testing requirements.

According to numerous media outlets, beginning March 1, 2022 Norwegian Cruise Line will be dropping its mandatory face mask rule, which requires passengers to wear face masks indoors except when eating and drinking.
The cruise line is also adjusting its testing requirement in order to speed up the boarding process.

Currently, Norwegian passengers are required to test at home and again at the terminal. Beginning March 1, 2022, NCL passengers will only need to test at home. The tests must be taken within two days prior to boarding when sailing from US ports and three days prior to boarding for international sailings. Acceptable tests include PCR and antigen tests administered by a third party or a medically supervised home test.

“Maintaining the health and safety of our guests, crew and communities we visit continues to be our first priority, always,” the cruise line said in a statement reported by USA Today. “As such, given the progress in the current public health environment, we’ve updated a few of our health and safety protocols and requirements.”
