When Joy Ryan told her grandson in 2015 that she had never visited a mountain, Brad Ryan sprung into action to help his grandma see more of the country.

Little did he know at the time that his mission would ultimately involve the dynamic duo embarking on an epic seven-year adventure to visit all 63 US National Parks!
In an interview with CBS News, the pair revealed they are close to completing their mission next April when they travel to the National Park of American Samoa in the South Pacific.

“Our journey began when I found out that my grandma in her eighties had never been to the mountains,” Brad told CBS News.
The pair’s first stop was to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and from there, Grandma Joy told CBS she’s been game for anything – even white water rafting at the age of 91!
“Oh, it was fun. I had the best time,” she told the news outlet. “And just like being on a roller coaster. I love roller coasters.”
According to CBS, Joy says the adventure has “been an opportunity to go out and broaden my horizons and see all the beautiful things I only dreamed about.”
