If your goals for 2024 involve sailing the high seas aboard the world’s largest cruise ship, you had better get your credit card ready because Royal Caribbean is now taking reservations for its mammoth new Icon of the Seas ship.

The ship’s first sailing is set for January 27, 2024. It will sail 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean vacations year-round from Miami, including a stop at Royal Caribbean’s private island Perfect Day at CocoCay.
Touted as the travel industry’s first-of-its-kind combination of the best of every vacation, the Icon of the Seas will be home to the largest waterpark at sea with 18 guest decks, a 55-foot waterfall, and six waterslides – one of which will have an insane 46-foot drop.

Icon of the Seas is the culmination of more than 50 years of delivering memorable experiences and our next bold commitment to those who love to vacation,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “Now more than ever, families and friends are prioritizing experiences where they can bond and enjoy their own adventures. We set out to create a vacation that makes all that possible in one place for the thrill-seekers, the chill enthusiasts and everyone in between, without compromise. It’s this first-of-its-kind combination that makes Icon the future of family vacations, and that future is here.”

Icon of the Seas will be home to ‘Thrill Island’ – with six record-breaking slides: Pressure Drop and its 66-degree incline makes it the industry’s first open free-fall slide; the 46-foot-tall Frightening Bolt, the tallest drop slide at sea; Storm Surge and Hurricane Hunter, the first family raft slides at sea with four riders per raft; and Storm Chasers, cruising’s first mat-racing duo. Living on the edge takes a new meaning with Crown’s Edge. Part skywalk, part ropes course, and part thrill ride culminate in a surprising, shocking moment that will see travelers swing 154 feet above the ocean.

Non-thrill-seeking guests can enjoy a more relaxing experience courtesy of Icon of the Seas other pool areas, including Chill Island, Surfside (aimed at young families onboard), The Hideaway – featuring the first suspended infinity pool at sea, and the Aquadome with wraparound ocean views.

Icon of the Seas will also feature a grander Royal Promenade, a more lush and livelier Central Park, Absolute Zero (Royal Caribbean’s largest ice rink), and mini golf at Lose Dunes.

“With each new ship, we raise the bar in the travel industry while enhancing what our guests know and love,” said Jason Liberty, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean Group. “From the moment they step on board, every experience is specifically designed to give them the best vacation anywhere on land and at sea. With Icon of the Seas, we’ve taken this to a new level and made the ultimate family vacation.”
