AAA Report Reveals Best Time to Book Thanksgiving and Christmas Travel

A new report from AAA has revealed the best time to book airline tickets for the busy Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays – and it’s coming soon!
If you haven’t thought about purchasing your airline ticket now, AAA suggests you may want to start looking as September 25 marks the beginning of the rush to book flights.

According to Travel Pulse, the new report from AAA looked at airline travel bookings over the past three years revealing most people book their flights between September 25 and October 27 for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
However, if you’re willing to wing it AAA reveals the best ticket prices can usually be found between 7 and 13 days before the holiday, but beware as options may be limited.
“Holiday travelers should make their plans now and begin booking their flights for Thanksgiving and Christmas as early as Wednesday, September 25 for the best deals and availability,” AAA Travel vice president Paula Twidale said in a statement shared by Travel Pulse. “Procrastinating travelers may be able to find last-minute deals on flights close to the holidays, as airlines look to fill their last few remaining seats, but flight availability for these peak travel weeks will be very limited by that time.”
When it comes to the Thanksgiving holiday, AAA’s research showed the Monday of Thanksgiving week is the best day to travel when it comes to lower ticket prices and less congestion at airports. Likewise, Christmas Eve was found to be the best day to travel for the Christmas holiday.
