In an effort to provide alternatives to short-haul flights, a new sleeper train connecting Berlin with Paris will launch this week.
As
Lifestyle Asia reported, the connection will be operated by French and German national train operators SNCF and Deutsche Bahn. It will initially run three times per week.
The service is hoped to increase to a train per day starting in October 2024 as more passengers and policymakers look for a more environmentally friendly alternative to air travel.
According to
Lifestyle Asia, some 100 million euros ($108 million) have been invested by the French government to revive the network and ready new carriages for service as part of French President Emmanuel Macron’s aim to open ten new sleeper services by 2030.
