If social distancing at home has you longing for the day when you can pack your suitcase and jet off to a tropical island, help is at hand via a myriad of movies set in exotic locales.

From Indonesia to the rolling hills of Tuscany, the following movies will help transport you to some amazing virtual tourist destinations.

Eat Pray Love
Even though we may be practicing social distancing at home, we can still take in the gorgeous scenery (and food) of Italy, India and Indonesia thanks to this 2010 movie starring Julia Roberts. Based on the bestselling autobiographical book by Elizabeth Gilbert, Roberts portrays Gilbert’s travels through three countries as she embarks on a journey of self-discovery after going through a divorce.

Finally, my need-cheering-up-laughathon culminated with Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Another fave of mine starring Jason Segel yet again. Segel stars as Peter Bretter, recently dumped by longtime girlfriend Sarah Marshall played expertly by Kristen Bell. In order to cope, Peter takes a vacation to Hawaii only to run into Sarah and her new beau. Written by Segel and directed by Nicholas Stoller, this one hits all the comedy notes and is a treat to watch. Mila Kunis is a firecracker as Rachel, the new love interest of Peter. Russell Brand is hilarious as Aldous Snow with Jonah Hill rounding out the cast as Snow's fanboy. This is a laugh a minute comedy and one of my all time favorites of the genre. A can't miss in my opinion! Forgetting Sarah Marshall tells the tale of Peter who chooses to get over his ex-girlfriend by taking a trip to Hawaii. Only problem? His ex is also staying at the same resort with her new boyfriend.

Wild
Featuring Reese Witherspoon, Wild tells the real-life story of Cheryl Strayed who, with no experience, decided to hike the 1,100 mile Pacific Crest Trail on a journey of self-discovery and healing. Featuring the gorgeous scenery of the Pacific Northwest, Wild is a must see!

Out of Africa
Based on the real life story of author Isak Dinesen (real name Karen Blixen), Out of Africa is a cinematographic treasure showcasing Dinesen’s life in Kenya. The gorgeous scenery of the country featured in the movie will definitely place Kenya on your travel bucket list.

Under the Tuscan Sun
Based on Francis Mayes’ 1996 memoir, Under the Tuscan Sun takes viewers on a jaw-droppingly beautiful journey through Tuscany, Italy. Diane Lane stars as the newly-divorced Mayes, who decides to buy an Italian villa on a whim and embark on a new life.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Featuring some amazing travel destinations, including Greenland and Iceland, the movie follows main character Walter Mitty, whose travel daydreams have literally inspired real life movie-goers to embark on travel adventures of their own!
