Disney’s Animal Kingdom has welcomed a baby African elephant!
According to
People, the 218-pound newborn, Corra, is the first African elephant calf to be born at Animal Kingdom in seven years and the first second-generation calf to be born at the park.
In a blog post, Walt Disney Parks’ director of animal and science, Scott Terrell, revealed Corra’s mom, Nadirah, was also born at Animal Kingdom eight years ago.
After a 22-month pregnancy, Terrell shared that mom and baby are already bonding and will continue to do so for several days before joining the rest of the herd.
