2020 may finally be the year to check New Zealand off your travel bucket list.
American Airlines just announced they will be adding nonstop flights to the country in October 2020, with a new route from Los Angeles International to Christchurch, New Zealand.
Next October, we’re launching nonstop service from Los Angeles to the South Island and Dallas-Fort Worth to Auckland.

The airline will also add a direct service from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to Auckland, New Zealand.
“The South Island sums up everything that our customers are looking for in New Zealand — adventure, culture, and wildlife found nowhere else,” American’s Senior Vice President of Network Strategy, Vasu Raja, said in a statement. “We want to make their lifelong dreams a reality and bring New Zealand’s beauty even closer as the gateway to the South Island where you can drive, hike, cruise and fly to a variety of classic New Zealand experiences.”
“Now, we’re able to get customers from places like Louisville, Savannah or Monterrey, Mexico, all the way to New Zealand with just one stop,” Raja said of the new Dallas to Auckland route.
Tickets for both routes go on sale on November 30.
