Good news for passengers flying in or out of Boston Logan International Airport this busy holiday season. The busy hub has been named the TSA’s ‘Airport of the Year’ for 2018.
The Transportation Security Administration revealed that despite being the “fourth fastest growing airport in North America with a 6 percent increase in passenger traffic” the average wait time to get through security is just under ten minutes.

“The TSA team here in Boston consists of nearly 1,500 employees from frontline TSA officers to inspectors, canine handlers, explosives experts, managers, program analysts and a host of others who work together every single day of the year to ensure that we protect the traveling public to ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce,” said TSA’s Federal Security Director for Massachusetts, Bob Allison in a statement on the TSA website. “The TSA officers and the others who comprise our team demonstrate their commitment daily through their hard work, professionalism and integrity.”

Along with being named the best airport in the country, the TSA have also named Boston Logan an “innovation airport” – that means the airport is eligible to test new technology programs for TSA screening and other security measures.
