This City is Set to Become the World’s Largest Travel & Tourism Destination

Research by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has predicted the Chinese capital of Beijing will overtake Paris, France, to become the world’s largest Travel & Tourism city destination within the next decade.
The research, sponsored by Visa and researched in partnership with Oxford Economics, analyzed vital indicators such as Travel & Tourism’s contribution to GDP, employment, and travel expenses.
“China has long been a world-favorite holiday destination and after more than two years of disruption, it’s great to see tourists heading back,” Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO, said in a statement. “Tourists provide a massive boost to both the economy and job creation.”
“It is crucial that the national and local governments continue to recognize the importance of Travel & Tourism for the local and national economies, jobs and businesses,” Simpson added.
Beijing is home to some of China’s best-known tourist attractions, including the Great Wall of China, the Temple of Heaven, and the Forbidden City.
Other tourist highlights include Tiananmen Square ( the Square of Heavenly Peace), the Summer Palace, the Beijing Ancient Observatory, and the impressive Beijing Zoo – home to 15,000 animals and a beautiful aquarium.
