Love the great outdoors but can’t find an affordable city to buy a home? Nature enthusiasts have no fear because Realtor.com has found ten cities where outdoor lovers can actually purchase property in 2022.
Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic saw more people moving to areas with lots of outdoor amenities, which pushed up prices.
Thankfully, America is such a vast country that nature lovers looking to buy a home need not throw in the towel on their property search.
To find the ten most affordable cities for nature lovers to purchase a home, Realtor.com cross-referenced April median listing prices in cities and counties with the nation’s 500 largest metropolitan areas.
“We then factored in bike-friendliness ratings from the League of American Bicyclists, plus the number of outdoors-related businesses per household in each metropolitan area from the U.S. Census Bureau,” Realtor.com reveals. “From there, we narrowed our rankings to places within a four-hour drive of a national park, and picked just one metro per state to ensure geographic diversity.”
According to Realtor.com, these are the top 10 most affordable outdoorsy places to live:
1. Urbana, Illinois – median home price (MHP) $165,000
2. Madison, Wisconsin – MHP $410,000
3. Iowa City, Iowa – MHP $320,000
4. Bloomington, Indiana – MHP $375,000
5. El Paso, Texas – MHP $280,000
6. Columbia, Missouri – MHP $349,000
7. State College, Pennsylvania – MHP $340,000
8. Morgantown, West Virginia – MHP $300,000
9. Rochester, New York – MHP $200,000
10. Duluth, Minnesota – MHP $265,000
