U.S. Travelers longing to indulge in a little Greek culture, food, and idyllic beaches will no longer have to quarantine on arrival – if they can provide proof of a COVID-19 vaccination, or present a negative PCR test issued within the previous 72 hours.
The news comes as the country plans to restart its busy summer tourist season even though Greece still remains under partial lockdown, which means restaurants and bars will remain off-limits except for takeouts.
According to USA Today, air travelers from the following countries will no longer be subject to a seven-day quarantine requirement: the U.S., Great Britain, the United Arab Emirates, Serbia, Israel, and non-EU members Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland that are part of a European travel pact.
The news marks the first time the country will be open to American visitors since March 2020.
