When it comes to traveling for the holidays, it seems most Americans prefer warmth over a snowy landscape.
According to AFAR, Americans taking a trip in December are flocking to states with warmer temperatures – and there is one city in particular proving to be the most popular this year.
TripAdvisor reports flight search-data for end of December travel shows Hawaii, California, Florida, and Arizona are all popular destinations for those looking to take a domestic vacation.
Honolulu has come out tops as the most popular city to visit for the holidays and with temperatures ranging from the mid ‘60s to the mid ‘80s in December, it’s no wonder! The city, located on the island of Oahu, has a multitude of activities to offer frosty weather-weary travelers, including surfing, snorkeling, enjoying the beach and some great shopping. AFAR also reports the city hosts a Winter Wishes Festival each year so if vacationers are missing some festive activities they can participate in ice-skating, peruse a gingerbread house competition, enjoy holiday drinks and food – and, of course, meet Santa Claus!
