Disney Cruise Line has been forced to delay its new vessel’s maiden voyage – and cancel 12 sailings set to take place this summer.

Due to pandemic-related issues, the maiden voyage for the Disney Wish has been pushed back from June 9 to July 14, with Disney Cruise Line telling USA Today, the German shipyard that is building the Disney Wish needs more time to complete its work after the country was hit by the omicron variant “at a critical point in the production process.”
According to USA Today, the delay means Disney has had to cancel 12 cruises that were meant to take place onboard the Disney Wish from Florida’s Port Canaveral to the Bahamas. The cancellations include cruises taking place from June 9, 2022, through July 18, 2022.

“We know how much our guests are looking forward to sailing on the Disney Wish, and we understand the disappointment and inconvenience this will cause. We treasure the relationship we have with those who sail and make memories with us, and we will work closely with those affected to welcome them aboard in the future,” Thomas Mazloum, president of Disney Cruise Line, said in the statement reported by USA Today.

The Disney Wish is the fifth ship to join the Disney Cruise Line family and features a 760-foot immersive waterslide, a Frozen-themed theatrical dining experience, The Little Mermaid Broadway-style show, a Marvel Superhero Kids Club, Star Wars: Cargo Bay, and so much more.
