Summer weather can be finicky and keeping bored kids entertained when inclement weather rolls in can be a real vacation doozy, so why not opt for a kid-friendly hotel with an indoor water park for your next family holiday.
According to FamilyVacationCritic, the following five hotels are firm favorites, however, since we are still dealing with the coronavirus pandemic it’s best to make sure the amenities are open before booking.
1. SoundWaves at Gaylord Opryland Resort – Nashville, TN
Spread out across 111,000 sq. ft, this three-level indoor/outdoor water park offers exciting rides including the Rapid Remax and the Crowd Surfer. FamilyVacationCritic reports the indoor-portion of the water park remains open all year so you can book a swimsuit vacation in the middle of winter.
2. Great Wolf Lodge
With 18 locations (and counting) across the country, families are within easy access of one of Great Wolf Lodge’s kid-friendly hotels, which all feature wave pools, water slides, lazy rivers, raft rides, whirlpool, and kiddie pools for the youngest members. However, FamilyVacationCritic reports their favorite location is the Great Wolf Lodge Poconos, which recently underwent renovations to reveal new attractions and updated guest rooms.
3. Kings Pointe Water Park Resort – Storm Lake, IA
Offering both an indoor and outdoor water park, FamilyVacationCritic says this resort is ideal for families with small children since it offers a zero-depth entry pool and floating lily pads. Bigs kids will love the Electric Eel – a slide on which riders create their own virtual experience.
4. Kalahari Resorts and Conventions – Wisconsin Dells, WI
Coming in as America’s largest indoor water park, FamilyVacationCritic reports attractions include water coasters, water slides, surf simulators, a lazy river, and a wave pool. Bringing an extended family? Kalahari Resorts and Conventions even offers some suites with up to 10 bedrooms!
5. Bridges Bay Resort – Arnolds Park, IA
Located on Lake Okoboji, Bridges Bay Resort offers apartment-style accommodations perfect for families. According to FamilyVacationCritic, the resort comes complete with a pirate ship, a lazy river – and of course easy access to the famous Arnolds Park Amusement Park.
