It’s been the stuff of dreams ever since the Star Wars franchise entered our realm in 1977 – and now, finally, the promise of a real-life lightsaber is becoming tantalizingly real.
In a very short clip, Disney Parks released a look of what appears to be a fully functioning lightsaber on May 4th, also known as Star Wars Day.
“Watching that lightsaber activate right before your eyes will be just one of the countless ways that, from the moment you arrive to the moment you depart, you’ll be plunged into a Star Wars story where your decisions and actions — or even the casual conversations you may have — determine how your personal journey unfolds,” Disney Parks shared on its blog.
While the general public won’t be able to get their hands on a real-life lightsaber, the “elegant weapon for a more civilized age” will be used at Disney’s new “Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser” Disney hotel, which is slated to open in 2022.
