Mexico continues to be a popular destination for cruisers, with 2,666 cruise ships visiting the country’s ports in 2022.
According to the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, more than 7.7 million cruise passengers visited Mexico last year. On average, each passenger spent $76.70 in the country – an increase of 8.2 percent over spending in 2021.
Mexico’s most popular cruise ports were Cozumel and Mahahual (Costa Maya) in Quintana Roo. In 2022, a whopping 2,938,153 cruise passengers were registered in Cozumel, and Mahahual received 1,229,864 cruise passengers.
According to RivieraMayaNews, other popular Mexican cruise ports in 2022 included Ensenada, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, and Mazatlán, Sinaloa.
Cozumel, Mexico, continues to be the busiest port of call in the world.
