Niyama Private Islands, the luxury Maldives resort with its own breaking wave, has announced two exciting surf initiatives with pro surfer Brad Gerlach.
The 1991 World #2 pro surfer and Wave-Ki founder will be in residence at Niyama Resort from March 16th to April 19th to offer special Wave-Ki coaching sessions. He will also instruct the in-house surf guides to become accredited Wave-Ki instructors.
Niyama, which is home to two islands – Play and Chill – features the Vodi wave just off the shore of Play Island.
The powerful and sometimes hollow left-hander isn’t the only wave Niyama guests can ride. A short speedboat ride away takes surfers to the hollow right-hander Kasabu wave. In addition, up to four other waves are in the local vicinity.
Niyama Private Islands offers a collection of 134 villas, suites and pavilions, many with their own private pools, located along the beaches or extending over the lagoon. Surfing can be enjoyed year-round at the resort, with bigger surf available from March to November.
