African Countries Top the List of Most Expensive Travel Destinations

The travel insurance comparison site, Squaremouth.com, has analyzed data to determine which countries were the most expensive to visit in 2022.
According to Breaking Travel News, travelers spent more than $133 million on expensive destinations in 2022 – up nearly half compared to 2021.
Of those destinations, trips to Africa, Antarctica, and the islands of Oceania cost the most – with Africa leading all continents in the most expensive destinations.
According to Squaremouth.com, these are the Ten Most Expensive Destinations for 2022:
1. Congo – Average Trip Cost (ATC): $32,420.00
2. Botswana – ATC: $17,753.80
3. Antarctica – ATC: $17,730.93
4. Zimbabwe – ATC: $14,393.87
5. Tanzania – ACT: $13,244.88
6. South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands – ATC: $12,874.45
7. Marshall Islands – ATC: $12,405.38
8. Kenya – ATC: $11,574.77
9. Central African Rep. – ATC: $10,651.98
10. Monaco – ACT: $10,247.35
