Every year, EDM just gets better and better. The creative artists driving the genre are pushing boundaries and mixing sounds from various sources, creating something new and mesmerizing. These artists have the power to create fantastic listening experiences and impact fans positively. And honestly, we can all agree that 2022 needs some more of that good stuff. Some artists can hold top positions year after year on best EDM lists, while new artists have a way of climbing up the ladder to claim their own space. Check out the Greatest EDM artists of 2022. Peggy Gou
She’s a deep house DJ from South Korea with 2.5 million followers on Instagram. Peggy Gou launched her record label, Gudu Records, after making her name by releasing seven EPs under the Phonica and Ninja Tune labels.
Richie Hawtin
The British-Canadian DJ who was once banned from the United States after the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, Richie Hawtin is also known as Plastikman. Don’t worry! He’s back in the US and will be in Chicago and Denver later this year as he brings his particular brand of minimal techno his fans know and love.
Dixon
The German DJ who was born Steffen Berkhahn brings his brand of house and techno under the label Innervisions. Dixon’s so hot in the industry that he’s been featured as a nightclub DJ in the video game Grand Theft Auto Online. Resident Advisor’s Top 100 DJ Poll listed him number one from 2013 to 2016.
ARTBAT
ARTBAT is a Ukrainian duo made up of Artur & Batish. Mashing Art and Bat together to create their group name, they masterfully weave minimal techno with tech-house under their own label, UPPERGROUND. In January, Beatport Top 100 listed their “Age of Love” collaboration with Pete Tong at number one while listing their original mix “Horizon” at number four.
DJ Koze
Stefan Kozalla is a German DJ who goes by DJ Koze on stage. He mixes tech-house with minimal techno, microhouse, and hip hop to create his unique style under his label Pampa Records. Known very well on some of the biggest stages, from Coachella to Osheaga and Outside Lands to Tomorrowland, he’s actively touring this year and might hit up a venue near you.
Seven Lions
From Santa Barbara, California, Jeff Montalvo is his actual name. Known for his exciting mixture of trance, dubstep, and house, Seven Lions has plenty of tour dates from Colorado to New York and throughout Canada this year.
Zeds Dead
The Electronic Duo from Toronto, Canada, consists of Dylan Mamid and Zachary Rapp-Rovan. Known for their unique deep house style, Zeds Dead is touring in Germany and Canada as well as several cities in America.
Tchami
Martin Joseph Léonard Bresso is a French DJ from Paris known as Tchami. With his creative mix of future house, he has toured with such artists as DJ Snake, Diplo, and Skrillex while dropping new releases under his own label, Confession. Upcoming tour dates include quite a few US cities as well as the Netherlands, Finland, Germany, and Romania. .
Madeon
Hugo Pierre Leclercq, the French DJ, is better known by his on-stage name Madeon. With his unique blend of electropop, house, and nu-disco, he was recently nominated for a Grammy for his second studio album Good Faith released through Columbia Records.
Nina Kraviz
Russian DJ Nina Kraviz is also a singer with 1.8 million followers on Instagram. She has been making a space for herself in the industry with her mix of tech house, electronica, and acid house. Currently touring, she can be spotted in London, Barcelona, Stockholm, and Madrid as just part of her hectic global schedule.
Disclosure
Brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence make up the English EDM duo. Leaning into a particular style of alternative indie and deep house, Disclosure hits Tennessee, Arizona, and Nevada before taking off for their European tour.
Eric Prydz
The Swedish DJ, also known as Pryda and Cirez D, Eric Prydz, consistently puts out hits. From “Call on Me” in 2004 to “Opus” in 2015, his bangers took him to the top, and in 2017 he won DJ of the year. This year, his busy schedule has him touring Chelmsford, Stockholm, Manchester, Portugal, Barcelona, Belgium, Montreal, and Ibiza, just to name a few stops along his global tour.
Caribou
Daniel Victor Snaith is a Canadian composer who takes fans on mixology rides through folktronica, neo-psychedelia, and dream pop. Caribou is an award-winning musician with a Ph.D. in mathematics for his work on Overconvergent Siegel Modular Symbols, otherwise known as that hard math. When he’s not doodling with numbers on a chalkboard, he’s picking up tour venues in Barcelona, Paris, Athens, and Istanbul- just to name a few.
Benny Benassi
The Italian DJ Benny Benassi is the pioneer of electro house. The award-winning artist has consistently topped the charts in his solo career as well as with his cousin, Alessandro “Alle” Benassi, to form the Benassi Bros.
Krewella
Hailing from Chicago, the electronic duo consists of sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf. From dance-pop to dubstep and trance, they bang just about every genre under the big EDM umbrella.
Above & Beyond
Jono Grant and Tony McGuinness are DJs from England, while Paavo Siljamäki is the DJ from Finland. These three guys make up Above & Beyond. Adding Rock and J-Pop to their bag of tricks, you can find them touring Boston, Las Vegas, and Houston before hitting Canada, Croatia, and Romania this year.
Nicky Romero
Born Nick Rotteveel, the Dutch DJ spins psychedelic trance, techno house, and progressive house, just to name a few. Hailing from Amerongen, Utrecht Province, Nicky Romero has the respect of many of the other DJs on this list, including Tiësto, David Guetta, Calvin Harris, and Hardwell.
Afrojack
Nick Leonardus van de Wall is the Dutch DJ born in Spijkenisse. Otherwise known as Afrojack, his particular spin on hip hop, pop, trap, and a whole slew of other EDM genres has fans flocking to see him when he tours Romania, Italy, the Netherlands, and throughout America.
Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike
The Belgium/Greek duo consists of brothers Dimitri and Mike Thivaios. From 2014 to 2020, they have either come in at #1 or #2 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs. Upcoming tour dates include international venues in Germany, Spain, Hungary, and Austria.
Don Diablo
Another Dutch DJ, Don Diablo, was born Don Pepijn Schipper in Coevorden. Touted as one of the pioneers of future house, he’s mixing his way this year on a global journey through such places as Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia, as well as a few spots throughout the US.
TOKiMONSTA
Jennifer Lee was born in Canada, but she’s currently based out of Los Angeles. TOKiMONSTA’s instrumental hip hop and electronica brand has been fused in collaborations with Anderson .Paak, Isaiah Rashad, and Selah Sue. She was nominated for Best Dance / Electronic Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
Gryffin
From San Francisco comes Dan Griffith, or as his fans know him, Gryffin. The melodic house artist started just wanting his friends to like his music but became a massive sensation with hits such as remixes of Tove Lo’s “Talking Body” and Maroon 5’s “Animals.” His upcoming shows have him flying from New York to Colorado and then from California to Washington, DC.
Dillon Francis
Best known for popularizing moombahton, Dillon Francis isn’t just a DJ but also a comedian and an actor. However, no one’s laughing when he mixes dubstep and trap with his moombahton flavor. He’ll be hitting Sweden, New Zealand, Australia, and a long list of spots throughout America this year.
Flux Pavillion
First known in England as Joshua Steele, Flux Pavillion is a world-class act with headline tours in America and the UK. He’s a favorite at festivals like Coachella and EDC, so he’s also one of our favorites here.
R3hab
Fadil El Ghoul is a Moroccan/Dutch DJ born in Breda. R3hab brings his EDM to hip hop, rap, and pop, making him one of the sought-after remix DJs. With upcoming shows in Romania, Sweden, Chicago, New York, and then Cleveland, he will be having fans dancing all around the world.
Kaytranada
The Haitian/Canadian DJ born Louis Kevin Celestin, Kaytranada is a spinologist who brings R&B and Soul to his mixes. This year, the award-winning artist is up for two Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best R&B Album featuring in Back of My Mind.
Kaskade
Another Chicago DJ, Ryan Gary Raddon, likes going by his stage name Kaskade. His mix of lo-fi with downtempo and several different subgenres of house makes him one of the best in the business. Kaskade has shows coming up all over North America.
The Chainsmokers
The Chainsmokers are the dynamic duo consisting of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart. They started remixing indie music, which put them and the indie artists on the map. That ingenious move catapulted them to stardom, with fans flocking to see them.
Kshmr
Niles Hollowell-Dhar is a DJ from Berkeley, California, more commonly referred to as Kshmr. His blend of psytrance with future bounce and big room house has elevated him on the charts year after year.
Damian Lazarus
An English DJ from London, Damian Lazarus is a master in the middle of the contemporary house and techno scene. His shows are mesmerizing. Condé Nast Traveler magazine reported Lazarus entertained the “Wildest Rave in Mexico.” This year, he’s booked up in Spain, and who knows where you might find one of his shows next.
Odesza
From Bellingham, Washington comes the electronic duo, Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight. Also known as Catacombkid and BeachesBeaches, they got together to make music in 2012. Since then, they’ve been releasing hits like “How Did I Get Here,” “Memories That You Call,” “Lights,” and “All We Need,” as well as rocking festivals such as Coachella, SXSW, Lightning in a Bottle, and Lollapalooza.
Hardwell
Born Robbert van de Corput, the Dutch DJ Hardwell was born in Breda. Now he owns the world as he’s currently gearing up for his Rebels Never Die tour to hit venues in Croatia, Belgium, Romania, Ibiza, the UK, and throughout the United States, to name a few.
Alesso
The Swedish DJ Alessandro Renato Rodolfo “Alesso” Lindblad hits our list at 23. His electro and progressive house fusion into pop have fans screaming his name when he’s on tour. Alesso has worked with the likes of Usher and Anitta.
Skrillex
Out of Los Angeles, Sonny John Moore reinvented himself as Skrillex. The Grammy Award-winning artist has dropped beats for sold-out crowds worldwide. One of the Owsla record label founders, he has signed such artists as Dillon Francis and Zedd, who are also on this list.
Black Coffee
A South African DJ from Durbin, the award-winning Black Coffee, was born Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo. His repertoire includes house and classical, but Black Coffee infused some R&B and Jazz in his self-titled debut album. The debut album was released under his record label, Soulistic Music. That soulful flow gets fans jumping at his shows, which will be in Ibiza for the rest of the summer.
The Blessed Madonna
Marea Stamper is from Kentucky and enjoys the stage name The Blessed Madonna. We Still Believe is her record label, where she mixes her brand of house, techno, and disco. Her upcoming tour stops include Marseille, Manchester, Barcelona, Belgium, and Ibiza, among others worldwide.
Alan Walker
The British/Norwegian DJ Alan Walker is quite the Youtuber with nearly 42 million subscribers. His hit “Faded” has garnered over 3.25 billion views and was certified platinum in several countries.
Steve Aoki
The Miami, Florida DJ, Steve Aoki actually inherited the Benihana restaurant franchise from his father. But EDM was in his blood, which has made him the highest-paid artist touring in North America.
Flume
Born in Sydney, Australia, as Harley Edward Streten, this artist likes to be called Flume on stage. His first album, “Flume,” went straight to double-platinum in Australia. His upcoming shows include spots in Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Florida before he takes off for a tour around the world.
Tiësto
If you’re a Dutch DJ on our list of greatest EDM artists, you may come from Breda like Tijs Michiel Verwest OO, otherwise known as Tiesto. According to Mix magazine, his fans already voted him “the Greatest DJ of all time” in 2011. Who are we to disagree?
DJ Snake
You might know DJ Snake by his massive hit “Turn Down for What.” William Sami Étienne Grigahcine is a French Algerian DJ who is also known for producing Lady Gaga’s album Born This Way. His busy schedule has him hitting venues in Romania, Germany, Italy, and France before coming to America for a few shows.
Deadmau5
Joel Thomas Zimmerman is the Canadian DJ who breaks out his lit-up mouse mask on stage. His music has appeared in such movies as Polar and Runner Runner, which is a very distinct honor and one of the reasons we consider him one of the best.
Marshmello
Another mask-wearing DJ, Christopher Comstock, likes to don a marshmallow mask with “X’s’ for eyes. Marshmello continually produces multi-platinum singles that are certified in several countries. On a European tour at this moment, Marshmello is also scheduled to a few US cities.
Galantis
The Swedish electronic duo consisting of Christian Karlsson and Linus Eklöw, Galantis, spins electropop against a slew of house subgenres. The Grammy Award-nominated power team is currently on tour hitting venues in New York, Sweden, Norway, Vegas, and Mexico.
Diplo
Known as Thomas Wesley Pentz off-stage, Diplo hit it big when he started touring with MIA in 2005, and then their hit “Paper Planes” appeared on the soundtrack of Slumdog Millionaire. His current tour will hit California for a few dates before going overseas for Les Eurockeennes de Belfort, Kappa Futur Festival, and Tomorrowland.
Armin van Buuren
This Dutch DJ comes from Leiden, Netherlands and sports the long name of Armin Jozef Jacobus Daniël van Buuren OON when he’s not on stage. He has appeared five times in the number one position of the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Poll. He is currently touring Ibiza, Croatia, Belgium, Austria, and Germany for the summer.
Swedish House Mafia
Swedish House Mafia consists of Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso, who bring their Progressive House, Electro House, and Big Room sound to every show. Also known as The Swedes, they just released the new studio album Paradise Again in April.
Zedd
When he’s not on stage, the Russian/German DJ Zedd is Anton Igorevich Zaslavski. Zedd sits at number 8 on our list. Beginning his career about 20 years ago, he’s an award-winning artist who toured the world and worked with such great artists as Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
David Guetta
The French DJ is a major hit in EDM, with over 10 billion streams worldwide. He was voted to the top position in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll on more than one occasion, which is why this summer, you can find him doing show after show in Ibiza. He should seriously consider buying a house there.
Illenium
Another DJ out of Chicago, Nicholas D. Miller, prefers Illenium when he’s on stage. Nominated for a Grammy for his fourth studio album, Fallen, he’ll be rocking several shows in Las Vegas this summer while periodically heading out of the country to entertain the audiences there.
Calvin Harris
The Scottish DJ was born Adam Richard Wiles before recreating himself as Calvin Harris in the world of EDM. He spins himself into international fame with his hands in electropop.
Kygo
Norwegian DJ Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, otherwise known as Kygo, is near the top of our list. His remix of Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire” back in 2013 catapulted him to international fame, and he hasn’t looked back since.
Martin Garrix
At the number 1 position is Martin Garrix, the Dutch DJ from Amstelveen, Netherlands. With over 14 million Youtube subscribers and over 15 million Instagram followers, he has the formula to create hit after hit as well as get voted to the top of any DJ list. His blend of EDM involves several subgenres of house, including Dutch house, which has a flavor of reggaeton to it.
