Viking is bringing its world-renowned cruise ships to North America!

The company, which operates close to 100 river and ocean cruise ships, has launched a Mississippi River cruise ship.
“It is a proud moment that this new ship has met an American waterway for the first time,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking, in a press release. “Our guests have long wanted to sail the Mississippi River with Viking, and we very much look forward to welcoming them on board this summer. We are grateful to our American partner, Edison Chouest Offshore, who has helped bring to life our vision of exploring the Mississippi in the ‘Viking way.'”

According to USA Today, the Viking Mississippi began welcoming passengers on September 3 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The Viking Mississippi will sail itineraries between St. Paul and New Orleans on the Upper and Lower Mississippi River and can accommodate 386 passengers in 193 staterooms. Each room has a French balcony or private veranda, a heated bathroom floor, and a king-size bed.

“It’s a wonderful country you have, and I’m proud that we can play our role in it,” Hagen told USA Today.

Viking was founded in 1997 and provides destination-focused journeys on rivers, oceans, and lakes worldwide. With more than 250 awards to its name, Viking has been rated the #1 River Cruise Line and #1 Ocean Cruise Line by Condé Nast Traveler in the publication’s 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards.
