Taco Bell Defy Restaurant Opens Featuring New Drive-Through Concepts

Taco Bell opened the doors of its new Taco Bell Defy restaurant in Brooklyn Park, Minn., on Tuesday, with a two-story design that accommodates four drive-thru lanes.
The design is meant to increase drive-thru speed and efficiency for mobile ordering and third-party delivery services, and there will be one dedicated drive-thru lane for people ordering and paying the old-fashioned way.
A video of the newly-opened restaurant also shows the new vertical lift system, reminiscent of the pneumatic tubes of a bank drive-thru, delivering an order from the second story kitchen to the ground level kiosk.
For decades weve been committed to providing a fast, safe and friendly drive-thru experience; now with our bold goal of creating a 2 minute or less drive-thru experience for customers of this concept, Taco Bell Defy is the future, said Taco Bell President Mike Grams.
And some of the new features could find their way to other locations in the U.S., according to the company. Taco Bell and franchise owner Border Foods are considering retrofits to incorporate some of these features into neighboring restaurants, according to a statement.
