Pilot Unions Putting Pressure On US Airlines

Published

on

U.S. airlines are under pressure from pilots to share a piece of the profits that are coming in as they rebound from the pandemic.
Delta Air Lines pilots last week overwhelmingly voted to authorize a strike if an agreement isnt reached between the union and the company on long-delayed contract negotiations.
This week, United Airlines pilots rejected a tentative contract and American Airlines pilots did the same a day later.
Amid a pilot shortage, pilots say that in addition to being underpaid, they are overworked. The unions are also calling for better scheduling.
Flight attendants are also demanding higher pay and better schedules at multiple U.S. airlines, and have picketed at airports along with pilots.
