Longest Celebrity Marriages

Published

on

When it comes down to it, celebrity marriages rarely last. It’s not hard to understand why, after all. Being a celebrity means that you have to make some serious sacrifices – you have to sacrifice your privacy, your free time, and any chance of going on an intimate date.
However, that’s not always the case. Every once in a while there’s a bulletproof couple that survives any rumor, any filming schedule, and any magazine story. These are the longest celebrity marriages in Hollywood, and these couples are still as loved-up as ever.

Denzel Washington and Pauletta Washington

It seems as though Denzel Washington only has eyes for one woman – even though she wasn’t originally into him. While the couple dated for a while in 1977, he asked her to marry him three times, but she rejected him twice. Third time’s the charm, as these guys have been together ever since.

Keith Richards and Patti Hansen

When Keith met model Pattie Hansen in 1979 at Studio 54, he knew that she was the one – but she wasn’t interested. Nine months passed and they hadn’t seen each other again, but after a chance encounter, they started dating, and they tied the knot in 1983. Keith has been pretty open about his love for Patti, stating that “She is the most beautiful specimen in the world.”

Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson

It’s hard to come to terms with the fact that Samuel L. Jackson has been married for over 40 years, but nevertheless, Jackson and LaTanya first met while they were both in different colleges in 1970, and they soon embarked on a relationship together. Even after making his mark on Hollywood, these two have still stuck by each other, getting hitched in 1980.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill

These two first laid eyes on each other backstage in Nashville in 1994, and while touring together in 1996, things certainly heated up between them. Although Faith was engaged at the time, she knew that she had to call off the wedding and pursue something with Tim. They got married in 1996.

Meryl Streep and Don Gummer

Meryl Streep is a legend, but what you might not know is that her husband is a sculptor, who she first met in 1978, just six months after Streep’s first husband had sadly passed away. While she wondered whether she was moving on too soon, she knew that Don was something special. It seems as though she was right, as they have now been married for over four decades.

Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne

This rock legend and his wife first laid eyes on each other in 1979 and became husband and wife three years later, but things haven’t always been easy for these two. They have gone through some sour stages, but their daughter, Kelly, has noted that “Everyone goes through hard times, but they’re the definition of true love.”

John Travolta and Kelly Preston

John Travolta was waiting for the perfect lady to come along, and she came in the form of Kelly Preston, who he married in 1991. Despite the fact that their marriage has been hit with many ups and downs, John credits the success and the longevity of their marriage to the regular marriage counseling sessions that they attend.

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn may not be married, but we’re pretty sure that their almost four-decade-long relationship deserves a place on this list. Both Goldie and Kurt were married before they found each other, but they knew that their love was something special when they met in 1983.

Mark Hamill and Marilou Hamill

Mark Hamill is known for his role within the Star Wars franchise, but it seems as though some people also look to him for relationship inspiration. After all, he has been married to Marilou since 1978. They have since welcomed three wonderful children into the world and managed to bypass all of the drama that often comes with the celebrity couple territory.

Jeff Bridges and Susan Geston Bridges

Jeff Bridges and Susan Geston Bridges were first introduced on the set of Rancho Deluxe in 1975, and despite the fact that Susan was sporting a shiner and a broken nose after a car crash, the actor knew that this was the woman he wanted to be with. While she originally wasn’t interested, when they met a few days later, she just couldn’t turn him down. They exchanged their vows in 1977 and have since continued to live their lives as a happily married couple.

Lisa Kudrow and Michael Stern

Lisa and Michael Stern first met in 1987 when Michael was actually dating one of her close friends. Because of this, they were friends themselves for around seven years before they realized that there might be something more there. They tied the knot in 1995, and have been together ever since.

Bryan Cranston and Robin Dearden

It’s always amazing when couples find their way back to each other, and this was the case for Bryan Cranston and Robin Dearden. These two worked together on the set of Airwolf in 1986, and while they got on well, they were both dating other people at the time. When they met a year later, though, they were both single, and they couldn’t deny their connection with each other. They tied the knot in 1989.

Steve Carell and Nancy Walls

Steve Carell is one of the funniest men in the business, but he didn’t think his wife liked him when they first met. These two first laid eyes on each other when he was an improv teacher, and she was one of his students. It turns out that they both liked each other, and they got hitched in 1995.

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness

This actor has been in the limelight for decades and become one of Hollywood’s most popular stars, but it seems as though he prefers to keep his personal life private. In fact, he’s been married to Deborra-Lee Furness since 1996, and she has kept away from his realm of fame and fortune.

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick

What’s so amazing about these guys is that Kevin and Kyra Sedwick actually met when they were teenagers, before later meeting on the set of the 1980s movie Lemon Sky, and it seemed as though they were a match made in heaven. The couple tied a knot just a few years after they started dating in 1988, and they have been inseparable ever since.

Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford

While the spotlight may have shifted from Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford to their daughter in recent years, it’s fair to say that these guys still have one of the longest celebrity marriages in existence. They became husband and wife in 1998, and they have been able to navigate the tumultuous waters of Hollywood ever since.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones

When Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones first started dating, everyone had an opinion on the matter. Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker

These two first met in 1991, and while they were both at the top of the game at this point in their careers, they decided to keep things low-key and away from the limelight. They have continued to do this ever since their 1997 wedding, but they have often offered some key marriage advice to the press. Broderick’s golden rule is that you, “Don’t go to bed mad.”

Jerry Seinfeld and Jessica Seinfeld

These two first met – and even started dating – in the 1990s when Jessica was still married to her ex-husband. Despite this, they couldn’t deny their chemistry and knew that they were meant to be. Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa

If you’re familiar with All My Children, you may know that these two not only starred alongside each other, but they also fell in love in the process. Just one year into their relationship in 1995, Mark asked Kelly to marry him, and they went to Vegas to make it official the next day. They have been together ever since.

Warren Beatty and Annette Bening

Despite the fact that there was a 21-year age gap between Warren Beatty and Annette Bening when they met on the set of Bugsy, they just couldn’t keep their eyes off each other. They got closer as they worked on the movie, and because of this, they decided to make their love official and tie the knot in 1992. They have since had four children together.

Christopher Guest and Jamie Lee Curtis

Maya Rudolph and Paul Thomas Anderson

Okay, so Maya Rudolph and Paul Thomas Anderson aren’t technically a married couple, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t consider themselves husband and wife. So, just one year later, they were walking down the aisle and exchanging their vows.

Elton John and David Furnish

Snoop Dogg and Shante Taylor

These two were high school sweethearts that tied the knot in the 1980s, and while it seemed as though they were meant to be, they divorced in 2004. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel
