Japan is lifting restrictions on all foreign visitors beginning October 11 as the coronavirus pandemic wanes.

According to BBC News, after more than two years of the border being closed due to COVID-19, tourists will be able to visit the country without a visa and will no longer need to go through a travel agency.

The country has allowed visitors since June, but they had to be part of official tours in order to enter the island nation.

The BBC reports a cap on daily arrivals will also be lifted on October 11.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said a campaign to promote the tourism industry would be rolled out soon, revealing the campaign will also offer travel discounts.

“We hope that many citizens will take advantage,” Kishida said during a press conference on his trip to New York City.
