With the omicron COVID variant now affecting countries around the globe, Canada’s President Justin Trudeau is reportedly preparing to implement an international travel ban.
If you’re planning to travel outside of Canada for the holidays, please, change your plans. Let’s be clear: with the emergence of the Omicron variant and its spread around the world, now is not the time for non-essential international travel.— Justin Trudeau (@JustinTrudeau) December 16, 2021
According to Forbes, several Canadian news agencies reveal Trudeau is likely to “announce a new advisory on non-essential international travel for Canadians in an effort to slow the spread of the omicron variant of the coronavirus.”
Forbes reports the proposals could include a ban on all non-essential foreign travelers into Canada – and that affects travelers from the United States. Along with a ban on non-essential foreign travel, Trudeau is expected to implement stricter quarantine and testing measures.
