Video shows President Joe Biden arriving at Los Angeles International Airport on Air Force One on Wednesday, for the Summit of the Americas at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti met Biden at the airport Wednesday afternoon. This meeting will be the ninth Summit of the Americas, with a focus on Building a Sustainable, Resilient, and Equitable Future.
During his opening remarks Wednesday evening, Biden announced the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity, a five-point plan for boosting regional economies by expanding on free trade and addressing lack of economic opportunities. On Friday, leaders at the summit are expected to sign the Los Angeles Declaration on Migration.
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador pulled out of the summit over the Biden administration’s refusal to invite the leaders of Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela.
