This Island Nation is Offering Tourists Free Visas

Tourists to the island nation of Sri Lanka will soon be able to save some money!

The country just announced they will offer free visas to visitors from nearly 50 nations upon arrival in an effort to boost tourism.

Normally the visas cost between $20 and $40.


According to Reuters, the visas will be valid for one month and visitors from the US, UK, China, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and Canada among others will be able to take advantage of the awesome deal.

Tourism to Sri Lanka, which is located off the coast of India, dropped by approximately 45 percent from July 2018 – July 2019, with the plummet partly a result of the devastating terrorist bombings that took place in April.

According to The Points Guy, hotels across Sri Lanka have also dropped their rates in an effort to encourage tourists to once again visit the beautiful island.

In June the US State Department lowered its travel advisory warning for Sri Lanka from Level 3 to Level 2.
