It’s finally getting close to summertime and that can only mean one thing – a summer beach vacation getaway!

If the lure of spending your days soaking up the sun and listening to the sound of the waves have you booking a trip, check out this list of the ‘must-have’ items to pack for a summer beach vacation.

The Ultimate Summer Flip Flop
Brazilians know a thing or two about hip beachwear and the famous Havaiana flip flop has stood the test of time. In business since 1962, these flip flops will keep you looking casually stylish from the beach to the bar – and best of all they’re super comfy.

A Fab Summer Read
Summer vacations are all about the quick and easy summer read. From Nicholas Sparks to Jennifer Weiner, Elin Hilderbrand to Debbie Macomber, there are plenty of great summer novels that are as hard to put down as that pina colada. Don’t want to be weighed down carrying too many paperbacks? Invest in a Kindle. Not only does the screen allow you to read in the bright summer sun, but you can also adjust the font size and load it up with tons of books before you board your plane.

A Wicker Purse
It’s the hot accessories trend of the season – and the perfect beach accompaniment. A small wicker purse or bamboo clutch is perfect for perusing local markets and eateries, whilst a large straw bag makes the best beach bag for stashing towels and sun lotion.

Save space in your luggage by investing in a Turkish Sarong Towel. These lightweight towels not only work as a beach towel, but they also double up as a sexy sarong and are available in a range of gorgeous prints.

A Beach Hat
Protect your hair and skin with a beach hat. We love a floppy straw hat that can be rolled up and tossed inside luggage for providing adequate shade. Many beach hats now also come with SPF built inside the material giving protection from the sun’s harmful rays.

SPF Sun Shirt
Nothing spoils a vacation quicker than a nasty sunburn. While packing a good sunscreen is a must, throw in a long-sleeve sun shirt as well. Most come with an SPF of 45 or higher and can be worn in the water and out. We also love Lands End’s SPF cover-ups. Not only are they super cute and available in a wide variety of colors, but they also provide extra protection from the sun.

Sea Salt Spray
Tanned skin and tousled beachy hair is the look we all crave while on a summer vacation. Fortunately achieving a surfer-girl inspired hairstyle is a cinch when you use a sea salt spray. We love OGX Moroccan Sea Salt Spray which also contains argan oil and kelp extracts to help keep hair shiny and soft.

Ziplock Bags
Getting stranded on vacation with a water-logged phone could be a disaster. While you could purchase a specially designed dry bag for your phone, a good ziplock bag can also be used. It also helps to protect your phone from sand getting into the charging port. Avoid sticky messes in your beach bag by stashing sunscreens and lotions in a larger ziplock bag.
