A generous stranger gave up his first class seat on a flight from Orlando to Philadelphia to a mom traveling with her sick infant.

In the now-viral Facebook post, Kelsey Zwick shares she was traveling with her 11-month-old daughter Lucy to Philadelphia, where the preemie twin receives treatment for a chronic lung disease, when an American Airlines flight attendant informed her a man traveling in first class had asked to switch seats with her.
“To the man in 2D,” Kelsey wrote on Facebook. “Today you were traveling from Orlando to Philly. I don’t know you, but I imagine you saw us somewhere. I was pushing a stroller, had a diaper bag on my arm and also lugging an oxygen machine for my daughter. We pre-boarded the plane, got cozy in our window seat and made jokes to those around us about having to sit next to my yelling-but-happy baby.”

“The flight attendant came over and told me you were waiting to switch seats,” Kelsey wrote, alongside a picture of herself holding baby Lucy. “You were giving up your comfortable, first class seat to us.”

“Not able to hold back tears, I cried my way up the aisle while my daughter Lucy laughed,” Kelsey shared on Facebook, adding that although she thanked the generous stranger as they switched seats, she didn’t get to thank him properly.

“Sooo… thank you. Not just for the seat itself but for noticing,” Kelsey wrote. “For seeing us and realizing that maybe things are not always easy. For deciding you wanted to show a random act of kindness to US. It reminded me how much good there is in this world. I can’t wait to tell Lucy someday.”

Kelsey finished her post by revealing she plans to pay it forward, adding, “we truly feel inspired by your generosity.”
