Dollywood is now officially a whole 6-acres bigger thanks to the new $37 million Wildwood Grove expansion.
Inspired by Dolly Parton’s own childhood growing up in the Smoky Mountains, Wildwood Grove features 11 new family-friendly experiences including a 650 colorful butterfly covered giant Wildwood tree situated in the middle of the new expansion.
The six new rides inside Wildwood Grove include The Dragon Flier (a family-friendly 40 mph rollercoaster), the Sycamore Swing (a ride with seats resembling large wind blown leaves), and The Mad Mocking Bird (a flying ride rotating around a giant tree).
The family focused Wildwood Grove also features a water park called Wildwood Creek.
In an interview with Southern Living, Dolly Parton said of the memories which inspired the new area of Dollywood, “All us kids would splash and play in the creeks and ponds around home and have these daydreams about the world around us, and that’s what’s so special about Wildwood Grove. We’ve been able to create a new area to allow families to experience some of those exact dreams we all had when we were little.”
